Good afternoon! Here are this week's news and announcements from
St. Johns Country Day School:

In Case You Missed It....

In case you missed it, on Friday St. Johns published college acceptance news for a number of our seniors. Hearty congratulations to Kaley Burnside (Tallahassee Community College), Alex Dimmick (Stetson University, University of Central Florida, University of North Florida), Mykel Frazier (Indiana State University, New College of Florida, University of North Florida, University of South Florida), Ali Korahais (Arizona State University, San Diego State University, University of Central Florida, University of South Florida), Gaby Loustau (University of Kansas, Kansas State University, University of Southern Mississippi), Alexa Radford (Flagler College, Florida Atlantic University, University of South Florida), Isabella Richardson (Clemson University), and Alexa Verboort (College of Charleston)!

Congratulations, Spartan Soccer!

Congratulations to both the Girls and Boys Varsity Soccer teams! After winning their Regional Semifinal games on Friday and Saturday nights, St. Johns' Girls and Boys Soccer teams both advance to tonight's Regional Championships. The girls are on the road against Tallahassee's Maclay School, and the boys face Maclay at home. Good luck, Spartans! (📸 by Julia Nichols '21)

Mr. St. Johns Rescheduled
In order to allow families and students to attend Saturday night's Boys Varsity Soccer Regional Semifinal game, Mr. St. Johns has been rescheduled for this coming Saturday, February 27, at 7:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. We hope you will join us for this entertaining show for a great cause! Admission is $5 and all proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. We look forward to seeing you there!

Spring Sports Safety Protocols
Spring sports are underway and a number of COVID-related safety protocols are in place for teams, coaches, and spectators. You can check them out at sjcds.net/athletics. Please review these guidelines carefully before coming out to cheer on the Spartans at any home contests this year.

St. Johns' learn-to-swim program for students in Grades K-5 with Varsity Swim Coach JJ Albino. The Spring session runs Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for 4 weeks from April 25-May 21. Click here to sign up today! (Photo by Claire Trammell '20)

Join Us for A Night in Old Havana!
St. Johns is very much looking forward to the 2021 Gala & Auction, A Night in Old Havana, which is coming up Saturday, April 10, to Timuquana Country Club. We hope you will plan to join us for what is always a fun-filled evening with friends and fellow Spartans. A number of measures will be in place aimed at making it a safe and fun evening for all, including:
  • Timuquana Country Club is a new, larger venue for this event that allows for more space both inside and outside.
  • Cocktail-style dining means that revelers will move around, indoors and out, rather than sitting in one place for dinner.
  • Our delicious tapas will be pre-plated at stations placed around the venue. This helps prevent frequently-touched areas, especially around food.
  • Masks will be required.
  • Ongoing cleaning & disinfection will take place throughout the venue, just in case.
  • For those who prefer not to join us in person, virtual auctions are available!

Tickets for A Night in Old Havana are now available. Get yours today at sjcds.net/havana!

Year-Round Preschool
We're excited to announce that beginning in August 2021, St. Johns will offer year-round preschool. We know it’s been difficult for many of our families to find quality early childhood education that they can depend on. You want a program that will truly nurture your child and provide a consistent approach to building foundational academic, social, and emotional skills, and you need it to be there for you every month of the year. St. Johns’ program focuses on creating opportunities throughout the day, across all activities, for students to play and communicate with others within a language-rich environment all year long. Registration is now open for our 2021-2022 preschool program for three- and four-year-olds. Click here to learn more, or reach out to Head of Lower School Mr. Otis Wirth with any questions.

2021-2022 Curriculum Guide
Course selection for the 2021-2022 School year is underway and St. Johns' new Curriculum Guide—a comprehensive guide to your student's classes, coursework, and progress from age 3 through graduation—stands ready to help. Download your copy right here, or access it from each division's My School App Topics page. Please reach out to the College Counseling Office with any course selection questions.

2021-2022 Contracts
As mentioned in Mrs. Baker's email earlier this month, an updated contract for each of your students is now available in My School App. After you log in, you should see a banner across the top of the page alerting you to their availability, and with a quick link to access them. There is nothing for you to do—you have already fully executed the contract—but please take a moment to review them and let us know if you have any questions. Also, if your plans for next year include relocation or other family transitions that do not include St. Johns, please let us know by this coming Sunday, February 28, 2021.

Summer Camp Registration Now Open
Registration for St. Johns' 31st Summer of Fun is now open! February Character Foundations: Kindness

This month in St. Johns' innovative character education program, Character Foundations, Spartans of all ages will be learning about and putting into practice kindness, which is defined as showing others they are valuable by how you treat them. Learn more about kindness and this month's activities at sjcds.net/news!
