Fletcher, St. Johns Country Day players among 10 Northeast Florida FACA All-Star picks

Two players each from Fletcher and St. Johns Country Day are among 10 Jacksonville-area players have been selected to compete in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association  Senior All-Star Classic for baseball, scheduled for Monday and Tuesday in Lakeland.

Fletcher twins Kyson Witherspoon and Malachi Witherspoon represent the Senators on the North squad, along with Bradley Hodges and Finn Howell of St. Johns Country Day.

Also on the team are Bartram Trail's Justin Nadeau, Clay's Max Williams, Fleming  Island's Isaac Williams, Paxon's Eli Maddox, Sandalwood's Dakota Stone and  Suwannee's Matthew Gill.

Gill helped lead Suwannee to the Class 4A final four in the Florida High School Athletic Association tournament, the Bulldogs' second state semifinal since 2019. Hodges and Howell were both part of St. Johns Country Day's Class 2A finalist team in 2021 and helped the Spartans to second place in USA Baseball's National High School Invitational tournament this spring in North Carolina.

Teams representing the state's North, East, South and West regions will face off across two days at Lakeland's Tigertown complex, the longtime spring training home of the American League's Detroit Tigers.
