Message from the Director of Athletics

Greetings Spartan Nation,

My name is John Sgromolo and I am excited to join the Spartan family this year as the Director of Athletics! St. Johns has many great traditions and I look forward to building on the department’s previous successes while continuing to carry the School’s mission forward for the best interests of our student-athletes.

Our goal as an athletic department at St. Johns Country Day School is to provide a world class student-athlete experience that will help our Spartans develop the tools they need to grow, not only in the arena of competition, but also in life. It is our goal that through relentless positive coaching and maintaining high standards of sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork, we will achieve our goal of building lifelong champions.  I am excited to meet all of our student-athletes and their families as we begin the 2023-2024 school year.

Below is a list of our fall sport offerings and the meeting locations for their first practice/tryout. In order to gain athletic clearance to participate, please follow the instructions to the right.

I look forward to seeing you at a game this season!

My best in athletics,

John Sgromolo
Director of Athletics

The Spartan Way...

Athletics is an integral part of the St. Johns experience. Seen as an extension of the classroom, the goal of Spartan athletics is to challenge our student-athletes to be confident, multifaceted young adults. St. Johns' athletics program teaches our students what it means to work hard, be part of something bigger than themselves, and to win and lose with humility. Our students' passion, commitment, and self-discipline produces outstanding team and personal achievements that they will carry with them to college and beyond.
