This week, 25 student athletes will be traveling to Cary, North Carolina to represent St. Johns Country Day School in the USA Baseball National High School Invitational (NHSI), presented by the Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance.
The NHSI brings together 16 of the top prep teams in the country to compete against each other in what has become the premiere event on the high school baseball calendar.
"To say that we are honored and proud to be invited to a tournament like this is an understatement," said Director of Athletics Traci Livingston.
The NHSI is a 16-team, single-elimination championship tournament, and each participating team is guaranteed to play four games. The Spartans step into action on Wednesday, April 6 against Servite High School (Anaheim, CA). Additional days' matchups will be determined on outcomes from day 1.
"I hope that we can go up there and win each game that we play," said senior Virginia commit Brad Hodges. "We hope to put St. Johns' baseball on the national map and rise from 14th in the nation to even higher."
